A practical, independent guide to China.
China Handbook is a curated English-language library for foreigners who want to visit, study, work or do business in China — without wading through ten contradictory blog posts.
What we do
We read the official guidance, test what we can, and turn it into step-by-step guides with costs, documents, timelines and common mistakes. Every guide links to the official source you should check before acting.
What we are not
- We are not a government site and are not affiliated with any embassy or authority.
- We are not a law firm, immigration adviser or medical provider.
- We do not sell rankings, “guaranteed” visas or introductions to officials.
- We do not provide circumvention tools or advice on breaking Chinese law.
How we keep it useful
- Official sources first. Visas, payments, transport and tax guides link to the authority or platform that actually runs the process.
- Last verified dates. Rules change; every guide shows when it was last checked.
- Plain English. We explain the Chinese term, the app, the form and the queue — not just the policy.
- Corrections welcome. If a price, link or rule is wrong, tell us through the Zambia site’s contact page and we will check it.
Newsletter — free, optional, no spam
A newsletter is a short email that tells you when we publish a new guide or update an old one. It is free for readers; we do not charge a subscription. We are not sending one yet because we are still choosing an email provider. When it launches, signup will be optional, double opt-in, and you can unsubscribe in one click. We will never sell your email address.
Editorial policy
Guides are written or edited by the China Handbook team. We do not accept payment for a positive mention. Any sponsored content, affiliate link or commercial partnership is labelled clearly. We avoid political, news and sensitive social topics; the focus is practical travel, study, work and business.
Disclaimer
